A new training and capacity building project has been initiated in Northern Iraq by Trauma Aid (in cooperation with Free Yezidi Foundation). Two seminars on EMDR were organized by Jiyan Foundation for 25 therapists in Sulemaniyah and in Erbil. The Budget for these training measures was provided by terre des hommes Germany.
Trauma Aid wants to establish psycho-therapeutic services for Myanmar and Cambodia. Systematic and internationally recognized training and treatment programmes will be linked structurally with institutions in the countries.
Details can be read here.
Trauma Aid is a non-profit association based in Duisburg and formed by experienced and dedicated trauma and EMDR therapists. It is modeled after the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) founded by psychologist Francine Shapiro in the US and offers therapeutic support to trauma victims on a voluntary base.
Trauma Aid as the German section of HAP targets psychotherapists in countries without the necessary financial and often also human resources and trains them in Psychotraumatology and EMDR. This approach enables survivors of natural disasters and victims of accidents and of all forms of human violence to regain their emotional stability and their psychological health, thus breaking the cycle of violence.
Trauma Aid thanks all donors for their contributions.
Special thanks are due to terre des hommes and the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation (BMZ) whose support helped Trauma Aid to organize trainings for local therapists in various countries.
