Trauma Aid is a non-profit association based in Duisburg and formed by experienced and dedicated trauma and EMDR therapists. It is modeled after the Humanitarian Assistance Program (HAP) founded by psychologist Francine Shapiro in the US and offers therapeutic support to trauma victims on a voluntary base. Trauma Aid as the German section of HAP targets psychotherapists in countries without the necessary financial and often also human resources and trains them in Psychotraumatology and EMDR. This approach enables survivors of natural disasters and victims of accidents and of all forms of human violence to regain their emotional stability and their psychological health, thus breaking the cycle of violence. Trauma Aid thanks all donors for their contributions. Special thanks are due to terre des hommes and the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation (BMZ) whose support helped Trauma Aid to organize trainings for local therapists in various countries. |
